During the 1960s, couture designers such as Andre Courreges, Pierre Cardin, and Paco Rabanne created futuristic looks enhanced by vinyl-coated fabrics. Vinyl is a very vulnerable fabric as its surface is sustainable and strong yet very flexible, seen in structured garments as well as fluid drapes. A lot of geometry shapes formed these outfits creating boxy strong edges as well as angles and circular shapes in miniskirts, A-line dresses, and suits, and boots. This fall, vinyl is again hitting the Paris runway with mind-blowing creations and interesting looks. Many a times vinyl has been compared to leather and of course there is no comparison when it comes to the quality and look. Saint Laurent was seen creating matching boots and suits in this fabric, while at Wanda Nylon there were one piece vinyl outfits. Chloe’s coats were in vinyl as well as Lanvin’s pantsuits. In the next blog, we will discuss the importance and glamour of leather this fall.
