LFW: OXBLOOD COLOR

We all come across all sorts of colors and shades year past year, becoming hits on the runway. Many times we invent names for our favorites ones as well as ones that we don’t like. At times its difficult keeping up with fashion terms in colors provided by fashion analysts, but we somewhat figure them out by finding some similarity with other things, and in this case oxblood red. As it sounds, oxblood’s name is derived from the color of an ox’s blood, first used in 1695-1705. We have seen really lively and strong reds in fall fashion weeks, and this fall we are amazed to see this oxblood hue adding onto burgundy and wine shades. The ready-to-wear lines are displayed on the runway in dark shades of red, at times combined with lighter cherry and pink colors such as in collections by Versus or Roksanda.
