GINGHAM VERSUS PRINCE OF WALES PATTERNS

How far can designers go with prints? To what extent can they modify prints and introduce new ones? This season, gingham as well as plaid and Prince of Wales all oblige us to ask such questions. All these three prints are considered classic and keep on appearing on runway shows. We saw House of Holland introducing the gingham pattern in shades of purple, red, and tangerine on sultry dresses, crop tops and flared pants. Also, Prada also focused on the gingham pattern but with blazers and skirts in both vibrant and subdued colors. Runway shows by Carolina Herrera, Toga, and Dolce & Gabbana were filled with black and white gingham styles. Another term people use for Prince of Wales is glen plaid that has been displayed on the spring runway in grey shades and particularly trendy in collections by Alexander Wang and Lacoste.
