What more can we ask for than to see inspiration from the Orient? Japanese designs are known worldwide for their stunning innovative ideas and Chinese for their embroideries. This spring we get to see quite a few Chinese and Japanese inspired shoes and sandals from strappy classic styles to flatform ones at Gucci’s show. Otherwise, even synthetic comfortable flat styles were displayed by Prada. Versace opted for shiny ankle strapped shoes and those neo-geta sandals were reinterpreted in magnificent ways and seen all over the fashion weeks. Surprisingly, Morrocan slippers were also displayed this season and very much admired. Also referred to as Babouche slippers, loads of flat grandmother-looking styles were seen by designers such as Narciso Rodriguez, Dior, and Haider Ackermann. This style showed up in minimalistic looks mostly in black and covering the heels when it came to Rodriguez’s line, while at Dior it was the opposite.
