The CRIMPED Effect

Hair crimping faded out during the past few years but many of us will be happy to know that it has hit the runway again this winter. Hair crimps are also referred to as crinkles or deep waves and is usually created by using a hair crimper or by braiding the hair in multiple strands. Not many of us know that the crimping iron was invented in 1972 by Geri Cusenza, the original founder of Sebastian for Barbra Streisand. This look reached its peak during the mid-1980s and in 2007, Chanel again brought crimped hair on the catwalk, reminding us of how stunning it looks. You can flaunt this look as Vanessa Seward did this winter with a low ponytail with the hair crimped, creating a lot of volume. Otherwise, you can focus on Gucci’s look by creating the center parting with the crimp from the ears downwards. Also, we can get a bit inspired by the Afro look similar to what Manish Arora did this season.
