Fall 2016 has taken us by surprise when it comes to Saint Laurent’s ready-to-wear collection, with 42 looks handmade according to YSL’s couture styles and techniques and this fashion house’s recently restores ateliers, having strong inspiration by Hedi Slimane, Saint Laurent’s creative director. Also, the show didn’t feature any music, just the looked were announced in a numerical order in English and French, as done from 1977 to 2002. It is said that the looked were inspired by the 1970’s as extremely thin models with slick black hair walked the ramp, wearing black pumps with the matching dress and make-up over the top. Trends that were appreciated were high waists on skinny pants with front creases and matching thin belts. Also, people loved the warrior tops in reptile texture, and the body contouring worked on with the thick belt effect throughout. What ran through very smoothly were the different shades of pumps, such as bright and dark reds, silver, gold, stark white, bright fuchsia, dark pink, buttercup yellow, midnight blue and teal among others. It’s a known fact that pumps add glamour to any and very dress, so this season they were very much enjoyed at Saint Laurent’s show. The whole look was so perfect as the panty hoses were looking stunning on those long skinny legs and pumps in all colors with dresses, many of which with accentuated shoulders.
