We are either leaders in creating new fashion trends or we are followers, and blindly copy anything that’s in vogue ignoring the fact that it may or may not suit us. Some of these fashion leaders take to vintage or ancestral styles and modify them, one of which is the granny socks and tights. We can all recall our cute grannies with their thick knitted socks and tights. I am sure that each of us has tried them on at least once in wonderment of how our grannies wear them and carry them so gracefully. We have all also worn them with open-toe sandals and possibly tripped over as well. Philip Lim’s fall collection had fuzzed socks while Erdem opts for velvet ones. Prada chooses open-toe printed styles and Gucci focuses on white socks with striped tops. Otherwise, designers such as Anna Sui, Rochas, Osman, and Markus Lupfer flaunted the granny chic socks and tights very gracefully on the ramp.
