Chokers are known to look stylishly sexy, and this season we get to see them in a lot of varieties. This choker craze started in the 1800’s, worn by the elite group, referred to as “dog collars or colliers de chien.” These were incorporated with the finest diamonds, pearls, lace, and velvet. Again it appeared at the beginning of spring/summer 2014 with pendant chokers along with what the schoolgirls flaunted as cool plastic tattoo chokers. This fall Balmain flaunted a variety of chunky chokers with a metallic and glassy look, while Dries Van Noten’s collection consisted of delicate feature-based chokers. And the ever-green gold chokers were again seen in Loewe’s fall line, while Fendi’s chokers had a furry appearance. Also, a designer that opted for chokers with gemstones and neck-jailing patterns was Lanvin. Otherwise, Luisa Beccaria brought the 1800’s back into vogue with her velvet chokers. Including, Oscar de la Renta presented knot chokers inspired by the Romantic look. So, if you want to style-up using a choker, you have a variety to choose from this season, keeping in mind that you can go simple and casual by wearing a plastic tattoo choker or glamorous for an evening out by flaunting a thick classic gold choker.
