Slit It All The Way Up

Slits come in all forms such as multi-slit slashed skirts, double slit dresses, front slits, and the current trend which are slits up to the thighs. Calvin Klein ensembles had slits on the skirts worn under gorgeous coats and Jason Wu’s models looked like schoolgirls with those jumpers and slits on midi skirts. Also, Monse created a very delicate and feminine look by adding slits to the side and off-shoulder pieces on one side. What really intrigues me is how slits come and go out of fashion, changing from the side to the thigh to the center front or back. Ultimately, wherever you see a slit, it looks sexy. Last fall slits were admired by designer collections such as by Altuzarra, Prabal Gurung, and Givenchy, the latter accentuating the look by adding huge ruffled hems. Otherwise, J. Mendel’s dresses that were inspired by the 70’s, had slits coming up the center and Jason Wu’s designs were combined with fur stoles to add the extra pinch of glamour. Now slits can be a bit tricky at times as a high slit is normally worn for an evening out or a special occasion, but mostly people hesitate to wear something with a high slit on a daily affair as it might look way too seductive. But you can tone it down by wearing it with a jumper on top or combining it with white sneakers to go casual.
