Fabrics are categorized according to their look, softness, elasticity, and how well they perform on certain cuts, accordingly they are grouped into the seasons of the year. Fall 2016 has a lot of velvet on the ramp, giving the shows a very royal and luxurious feel. Hints from the 1970's and 80’s are seen in various velvet constructions by famous designers. Some of these are Emilio Pucci, Antonio Marras, Luisa Beccaria and Costume National’s assemblages. Velvet was also featured in London Fashion Week’s Topshop Unique, Christopher Kane, Mary Katrantzou, and House Of Holland. Otherwise, many designers also added velvet trimmings to their ensembles and were seen also with prints and different embroideries. There is no hard and fast rule when it comes to wearing velvet as it looks elegant, it is soft, and has a bit of sheen, so however you wear it, it simply looks gorgeous. Moreover, as velvet’s nature is to stretch due to its elasticity, it falls and fits beautifully on a body, accentuating the curves.
