Leather...Once Again

Last year, Altazurra’s leather mini skirts and Louis Vuitton’s leather pants made an impact on the audience, and this fall leather is back with lovely colors. On Vionnet’s show, aqua and beige leather caught people’s attention, while Marc Jacobs texturized leather with pleats amongst other designers like Alexander Wang, Fendi, Alexander McQueen, Elie Saab, Ralph Laurent and Narciso Rodriguez. What was pleasant to see what also The Row’s long leather coats in brown and Philip Lim’s cropped leather tops under lovely velvet suits. The classic black leather skirts ending at mid-calf under oversized sweaters were part of Rag & Bone’s collection. Leather was also found on trousers, skirts, dresses and hoodies at times in synthetic and shinier looks on Mulberry along with high necks, ruffled fronts, long sleeves and above the knee hemlines. Ashley Williams chose to focus on the little black dress ending at the thighs and Mary Katrantzou created psychedelic effects with images of blue butterflies and red stars. So if you are considering a leather jacket, skirt or dress you must wear it this season either as a smart casual look as a leather jacket over tees and jeans or for an evening out with a sexy mini leather dress.
