Hold Onto Your Buttons!

This summer we are noticing how buttons are making a statement in their own way. They are placed in lines down the sleeves or skirts, especially on off-shoulder looks to make it more stylish. Rosie Assoulin’s collection had white buttons running down the sleeves and across the chest to the side, and Proenza Schouler’s wedding gowns didn’t’ give them a miss either. Loewe’s models wore outfits inspired by martial arts with buttons down the sides. Also, Altuzarra’s skirts looked stunning with side buttons under their waistline tops and contrasting stitch lines. But, what’s catching people’s attention are the button-down skirts as they look trendy, have pockets and also give a gypsy feel. You can unbutton some according to your comfort and if you unbutton quite a few of a midi skirt, you can easily wear high boots with a crop top. According to what fabric it is made off you can wear them on any occasion. For instance, you can wear denim button-down skirts to the beach or a dinner or party while a linen button-down skirt is apt for office wear. They can also look sophisticated when worn with ankle boots and a leather jacket, giving a girly and retro look. What is important here is to choose a button-down skirt made from a stiff fabric such as linen or denim as if you choose a light-weight fabric such as georgette or chiffon, the buttons will not stand that well and the fabric will fray, ruining the entire shape of the skirt on your body.
