Even though it has had its changes in designer popularity, leather is a classic that never goes out of trend. It stands for value, comfort, durability, luxury and can also be made in a sustainable way. It is often see as a jacket, high-waist miniskirts, and handbags and shoes. This season, Anthony Vaccarello accentuated on over sized leather crop jackets while Hedi Slimane’s leather zippers and fringes stood out, drawing some resemblance to Saint Laurent’s previous collections. Also, what Nicolas Ghesquiere did at the Louis Vuitton show was give his leather a punk inspired look with stripes and LV logos. Nina Ricci’s patent ostrich leather was observed by some to resemble vinyl, and Ralph Lauren’s navy and tan leather jackets were simple but very stylish.Gareth Pugh SS16 line had these stunning leather capes loved by many. One designer whose work was very much acclaimed was Mugler’s look with David Koma creating cropped edges and interesting patterns. Otherwise leather is also widely used as trimmings, in this case it was used as buckle straps attached to some futuristic denim on the Diesel Black Gold show.
