What's In A Name?...

This season is for all those brand freaks who like to flaunt the designer label they are wearing or carrying. Logos were seen all over different collections on the ramp, either boldly signed or graphic come-ons or printed throughout the outfit. Some designers really thought out-of-the-box such as Karl Lagerfield who favoured the cartoon likeness of his adorable spoiled kitty Choupette, as catnip. Alexander Wang used heat-printing and lazer cut leather while Jonathan Anderson’s models looked like cool kids for old-school Loewe, including pieces printed from head to toe with the brand’s name. And Alessandro Michele, displayed a subtle “Gucci” print with traditional logo bags. This entire brand iconography trend, like anything in fashion, has to be used with the right components at the right time. What’s most important about logomania is that everyone can relate to it as it’s universally understandable. When you wear a logo you can be sure that you won’t be missed as you will be making a style statement for sure. At the same time, you must make sure that if you claim to wear an original that it truly is one as if it isn’t, you will make a mockery of yourself.
