How Loose Are Your Strings?

Since last year the fringe has been very much appreciated and used not only on clothes but also on accessories. But this spring loose strings were seen all over the runway. Designers like Derek Lam and Philip Lim left the audience guessing as to what exactly was going on. Were this unfinished ends or placed intentionally, and if the latter, what were they trying to focus on. As the collections passed one by one, people began noticing this incomplete and edgy touch on sweaters, jumpsuits and outerwear among many other silhouettes. One designer who aced this trend was Alexander Wang as he is known for his undone edgy looks. DKNY’s collection was full of strap-like versions hung around appearing to be part of non-existent book bags. Another designer whose line was really fascinating was Lanvin as his unisex outfits had strings hanging from the waist of a skirt worn over a pair of pants. Otherwise, tassels including strings were the highlight at Boss, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, and Joseph.
