White shirts are a basic wardrobe essential and this season designers are combining them with nearly any and every skirt or jeans. Designers have always used old English elements for inspiration, this time being Oxford shirts. Stella McCartney emphasized on high collars while Fendi’s puffy sleeves were very much appreciated. Also, oversized shirts were the highlight in Vera Wang’s collection while Issa created a bare effect with cut up sleeves. Other elements were also incorporated in these white shirts for instance, Paul & Joe added ruffles that generated a dash of femininity. The best thing about white shirts is that they are extremely versatile and stylish, so they can be blended with anything and in every color.
Deconstructing an outfit takes it to a whole new level as you always end up creating something that is very different. This spring, various designers deconstructed Oxford shirts such as Jacquemus, one sleeve stood out or on the other hand bared shoulders in the Palmer Harding collection. Also, necklines were played with on Zac Posen’s conservative assortment of shirt. Asymmetric necklines were also present at Delpozo and Fyodor Golan. Tommy Hilfiger opted to include feathers and slashes, with the stunning colors and cuts chosen by him.
