Sparkle With Metallics

Metallics are re-invented with molten metal and shimmer this year, leaving one to imagine how interesting space-age silver can look. Various shades come out in the open from Houghton’s icy white to Naeem Khan’s stormy grey with a sprinkle of cosmic sparkle. Khan offers delicate stardust gowns, while Lacoste and Victoria Beckham create a relaxed and sporty feel and Chanel uses foiled frost for its tweed coats. Including menswear shined in metallic on the runway and particularly two new metallics, the Iridescent Beetle and Champagne Sheen added a bit of eccentricity with elegance in different shapes and a subtle Space Age appeal. Yet one more fascinating shade for contemporary menswear is a warm silver or a cool gold metallic. Shaun Samson was seen adding this shade to classy Eastern-inspired sportswear in panels, while Topman focused on black outfits with slim foiled belts.
